BACKSTAGE WITH MAYBELLINE AT GLITZ AFRICA FASHION WEEK 2018

I know it’s been a while loves, i know and I’ve missed you. There has been a lot going on with me both work and personal life but thankfully all is well by God’s grace. If you have been following me on instagram i’m sure you’ve seen some of the things I’ve been up to on my stories and posts But if you haven’t then follow me on JESISCAH.

Let’s get into why we are here. So your girl was an official blogger for Maybelline New York at this years Glitz Africa Fashion Week (GAFW) *whoop whoop whoop * I got the chance to be backstage with the maybelline team and experienced all the chaos that happened behind the scenes.

The makeup theme on the runway was SKIN ; and by skin, i mean dewy fresh looks run through most of the shows with a few bold black liners , smokey eyes and colourful eye looks and dark lips.

It was a 3 Day event, Keyed by Alexandrina who was the Artistic Director for the GAFW18, an award winning makeup artist and also the first Ghanaian makeup artist to work New York Fashion Week 2018. She lead her team of makeup artists with an opening prayer, briefed them on the looks they were going for, for each designer and also did a demo of all the looks on the beautiful Ruth Quashie (Miss Universe Ghana 2017).

DAY 1 – The Maybelline team went for dewy fresh skin with different lip colours using the Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer lipsticks. For skin; they used a moisturiser, mixed a maybelline primer which is yet to hit the market and the maybelline fit me matte+poreless foundation to give the models that fresh dewy look. Filled in the brows lightly with the Maybelline brow drama ; as Alexandrina jokingly said, “no Instagram brows in this corner ” hahaha and finally to give the lashes life the Maybelline Mascaras came out to play.  The male models weren’t left out of the glam as they also got their brows groomed and skin on point with maybelline fit me foundation. No powders were used in all 3 days.

DAY 2 – This was where the looks got interesting for the female models with smokey eyes, bold black liners using the Maybelline Kajal liner and paired with dark lips and red lips. The male models also got funky with studs placed all over their faces to give that funky look for designer Tokyo James.

DAY 3 – This last day was filled with colours. From colourful eyeshadows to colourful eyelashes to colourful eye liners and lips.  The Maybelline show was definitely my favourite on the runway, as all the models looked stunning and flawless in Maybelline  products and coloured head pieces directed by Alexandrina of course and Debonair Afrik handling the styling. The entire Maybelline team joined the models on stage and It was just perfect.
